Summary
This course is for IT professionals who have no experience in Linux systems administration. It provides participants with Linux administration skills, focusing on basic administration tasks while also being a good starting point for individuals who want to become full-time Linux system administrators. Participants will learn about key command-line concepts as well as business tools. This is the first part of a two-part course that empowers IT professionals who are unfamiliar with Linux system administration to become proficient Linux administrators. These concepts are discussed in the next course, Red Hat System Administration II (RH134).
This course is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 9.0.

Getting Started with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Describe and define the concept of open source, Linux distributions, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux

- Connect to a Linux system and run simple commands using the Shell
File management from the Copy command line
- Move, create, delete, and organize files from the bash shell
Access Help in Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Troubleshoot problems using local help systems
Create, view, and edit text files
- Manage text files from command output or text editor
Manage local users and groups
- Create, Manage and remove local users and groups and administer local password policies
File access control
- Set different permission levels on Linux file systems and interpret their security effects
Linux process monitoring and management
- Evaluate and control processes running on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux system
Control services and daemons
- Control and monitor network services and daemons system using systemd
Configure and secure SSH
- Configure Secure Command Line Service on remote systems using OpenSSH
Analyze and save log files
- Accurately locate and analyze system event history for troubleshooting
Networking management
- Configure network interfaces and settings on Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers
File archiving and transfer
